Vimpex has appointed Tony Payn to the new role of Engineering Manager as part of their continued development plans for the Fire-Cryer® Plus family of voice sounders. Reporting to the Managing Director, Tony will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s engineering activities and third party approvals.

For over 25 years, Tony has worked for some of the leading fire detection companies, including Nittan (UK), Hochiki Europe and EMS Fire and Security. He has an extensive knowledge of the technical issues involved with developing standards-compliant product and an excellent understanding of the UK fire detection marketplace. Tony has been very active with standard’s issues and is currently a member of the FIA’s Working Group 27 on alarm devices.

Commenting on the appointment, Viv Jones, Vimpex’s Managing Director said, “To maintain the technological lead that the Fire-Cryer® has established in recent years, we need to continually be innovative and invest heavily in R&D. Tony’s vast experience in the fire industry will be invaluable in achieving this and he will become an important member of our development team.”

The Fire-Cryer® Plus voice message sounders provide simple, cost-effective fully synchronised voice annunciation for all forms of evacuation and information broadcast. Each unit can be programmed with up to 7 messages from a library of thousands, many of which are multi-lingual, ensuring that any site requirement can be fulfilled. They require no special wiring and can be retrofitted to existing installations. The units can be fully synchronised and have a low current consumption allowing simple replacement of existing sounders and bells.
