Vimpex’s Hydrosense water leak detection system has been selected to protect two prestigious commercial properties in the heart of Clerkenwell.
The project involved the refurbishment of two historic buildings at 42 and 45 St John’s Square, London. Meritcape, the property owners, known for restoring heritage sites to modern commercial standards, sought to future-proof the premises against water damage. They commissioned Decker Solutions Ltd to install a reliable water leak detection system as part of the high-end refurbishment.
Both buildings feature underfloor, closed air conditioning systems with four units and toilets on each floor. To safeguard against potential leaks from the air conditioning and toilet areas, the Hydrosense Addressable System was chosen. This advanced system is ideal for large or complex installations, allowing each detection device to be assigned location-specific information for precise monitoring.
The system was zoned across multiple floors, ensuring that any leaks are detected early, before they can spread and cause significant damage. Hydrowire sensing cables were installed beneath the raised floors near the air conditioning units, while leak detection probes were fitted in the toilet areas.
Because Hydrosense is fully customisable, the client also opted for a mains relay controller, enabling automatic control of plant equipment and the main water inlet in the event of a leak.
