The Vimpex Production and Production Engineering teams have had a busy couple of months with several major milestones achieved. In last month’s Vimpextra, we wrote about the UV Printer, which has been successfully implemented and continues to make vast improvements in print quality and the number of misprints.
Also, in October, we upgraded our SMT oven to the new Heller 1707 MK7 Reflow Oven, a state-of-the-art oven that offers enhanced reliability and, with the addition of more heating zones and a dedicated cooling zone, better quality control of our reflow heating process. This upgrade has also offered us newer energy-saving designs that optimise the reflow parameters to lower power consumption and faster changeover times when switching between products. This new upgrade is particularly important when manufacturing our range of visual notification products (VIDs and VADs).
The new SMT oven is not the only change being made in preparation for the launch of our Identifire Pro range of notification devices. Our production facility has undergone a redesign to help Identifire Pro flow through production seamlessly, to help the products be available on short lead times. With a test facility built in-house by our Engineering team, we have been able to combine the testing of sound and light tests into one simple test to reduce testing times, whilst ensuring products are manufactured to the highest level that our customers have come to expect from Vimpex.
In our final update from production, we have successfully brought in-house the manufacture of our Smart+Guard PCB. This is a landmark achievement for Vimpex, as this was the last remaining outsourced PCB, as we continue to evolve as an excellent manufacturer of notification alarm devices and other ancillary devices.
“The last few months have really shown the desire and hunger we have to become a world-class independent manufacturer of fire alarm products.”
